"....no one needs a rear ferrule for skew chisels...."
We have taken up this tip and developed a combination of the proven long blade and the new handle without ferrule.
The newly developed MHG handle made of oiled ash wood without ferrule is ergonomically shaped, therefore it lies well in the hand and enables finer work. It is sufficient to guide the skew chisel by hand, as only a very fine chip should be lifted off. Also, because of the delicate tip, it should only be struck very lightly (if at all) with a wooden mallet.
Forged from the best chrome vanadium steel and hardened to 61 HRC over their entire useful length. The blades are fine ground, as a flat mirror face is required for fine finishing work.
MHG skew chisels are particularly suitable for clean finishing of wood joints, such as concealed dovetail tines. Even with hard end-grain wood, they cut the fibers of the wood accurately and precisely.
We offer the skew chisels as a pair for right-hand and left-hand machining with a 45° skew and are available in blade widths of 10, 18, 20 and 25 mm.
